Continuing Education

Whether you're a new Realtor® or you're a seasoned pro at the peak of your career, Continuing Education is the proven path to professional growth and prosperity. It is a requirement for maintaining your license.

Minnesota Realtors® offers a wide range of classroom training with experienced, professional instructors. Check out the calendar to view upcoming courses and plan your annual curriculum. We are also Minnesota's exclusive provider of courses for the Graduate, Realtor® Institute (GRI) designation. 

Course Completion Transcripts

DOC Education Requirements

The Department of Commerce (DOC) requires all real estate salespersons and real estate brokers to successfully complete 30 hours of approved real estate continuing education (CE) during their initial license period and each succeeding two-year license period.

At least 15 of the 30 credit hours must be completed during the first 12 months of that period.

A minimum of 30 credit hours of approved courses each two-year license period must include:

  • 1 credit hour from a class or classes in fair housing
  • 1 credit hour per licensing period from a class or classes in agency law
  • The annual assigned required module. Required module titles* and credit hours are subject to change each year.

Please Note:

  • No credit will be earned if you previously got credit for the same course during the same licensing period.
  • You will not get credit for more than eight hours of CE in one day.

Contact your course provider if you took a course that is not listed on your CE transcript. The DOC cannot assist you with this issue. All completed CE courses must be uploaded by the course provider.

2023–2024 Required Module

All real estate salespeople and brokers are required to take the module annually. You will receive 3.75 hours of CE credit. It must be completed before the licensing renewal deadline on June 30, 2024.

Fair Housing, Agency Law, & Legal Update:

After completing this module you will understand how to:

  • Apply objectives learned in the 2022-2023 required module to everyday representation
  • Understand the importance of promoting equitable homeownership
  • Identify best practices in submitting and receiving offers to avoid discrimination
  • Properly respond to common questions asked by clients and customers
  • Use inclusive language in advertising and communication
  • Identify communication pitfalls

*Exemptions to Module Training

The Fair Housing, Agency Law, and the Module Training CE requirements do not apply to commercial-only salespersons and brokers engaged solely in the commercial real estate business, and who file with the commissioner a verification of this status. You must notify the Department of Commerce yearly, before June 30th. Primary Brokers can enable and disable this designation online within PULSE Portal. The feature is called: "Verify Commercial-Only Designations."
